GDC Nerwa was established in 2002 but the Music department did not established on the same date , It get established on 2019. Since then department is giving its active services.
Started with the modest batch of fourteen students of Hindustani Music (Vocal)increasing day by day. Now department has around fifty students of Music. Music department not only training students in Vocal Music , but students are learning various instruments e.g. Harmonium, Tabla, Xylophone, Guitar etc.
Students are introduced to a wide range of performance technique , exercises aimed at developing a strong command over voice and instrument , essential harmonic and rhythemic concepts , and the art of solo as well as group performance. In a wide range of genres and styles studying in the department of music is a truly different experience for the students . The atmosphere of teaching learning is indeed an extended family.
The department celebrates the annual function , youth festivals, Basant Panchami, Independence Day, NSS Prog. And all the important day and festivals.
Music is being foremost a practical art, special attention and continuous stress is laid on achieving excellence in performance , not only amongst music students , but also science and commerce students . In order to orient them with the performing art and nuances of performance, the department organizes concerts from time to time.
Students are being prepared to be a versatile singer both on stage and in the professional music to be an all- round successful musician.
