Music(Vocal)
The Department of Music (Vocal) at Govt College Nerwa was established in the year 2019. Since then, it has been actively contributing to the cultural and academic environment of the college.
The department began with a modest batch of students in Hindustani Vocal Music and gradually expanded its scope. It now offers instruction not only in vocal music but also in instrumental training, including harmonium, tabla, xylophone, guitar, and other instruments. Students are exposed to a wide range of performance techniques and exercises aimed at developing vocal control, instrumental proficiency, rhythmic understanding, and the art of solo and group performance.
The teaching methodology blends classical traditions with contemporary musical sensibilities. Students explore a wide variety of genres and styles, making the experience of studying music both enriching and unique. The department fosters a familial and inclusive learning atmosphere, encouraging participation from students across all academic streams.
.Music, being primarily a performance art, receives special emphasis in practical training. The department regularly organizes concerts, performances, and musical workshops to help students develop stage presence and professional skills. Cultural participation in college functions such as annual events, youth festivals, Independence Day, Basant Panchami, NSS programmes, and other significant occasions forms an essential part of student life in the department.
The Department of Music (Vocal) is committed to training students to become versatile performers—well-equipped for both stage and professional musical careers.
