ABOUT COLLEGE

The beautiful place "Nerwa" in Shimla district (Himachal Pradesh) in Chopal constituency is in the lap of Churdhar Peak and is surrounded by numerous snow-capped peaks with several beautiful and culturally rich villages, at the foot of which flows the river Salvi, and on the other side the peaks of Uttarakhand. Government Degree College Nerwa is one of the higher educational institutions at one of the best places in the city, surrounded by a beautiful pine forest. The college was taken over by the state government on June 13, 2002 and was earlier known as S.D. College. Till September 2017, the college was housed in the old S.D. College building.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Students,

As we embark on the journey of the 2023-24 academic year, brimming with aspirations to elevate our institution to new pinnacles, I wish to reflect upon and underscore the profound impact the past two years of the pandemic have had on our lives. It is imperative that parents understand the importance of nurturing their children's aspirations rather than coercing them, enabling the discovery of the unique genius within each one. Education, fundamentally, should equip our youth with the ability to think critically and discern facts.

Our students must engrave in their minds the significance of time management, prioritization and effective utilization to achieve success in life. They should always be inquisitive, constantly analyzing the cause and effect of every event they encounter. I urge you not to be ensnared by fleeting indulgences but to remain steadfast in your pursuit of knowledge. Relish the toil of hard work, especially in your studies and uphold the values of our society. Thoughtfulness, methodical planning and practicality should be your guiding lights. Always prepare diligently for the lessons of tomorrow and approach your classes with unwavering seriousness and attentiveness.

Let us be stewards of our heritage and environment not only for ourselves but for the generations that follow. Be vigilant and resolute in preserving our traditions and land. With our seasoned and dedicated educators and outstanding infrastructure, our college stands ready to assist you in reaching your life's ambitions.

I wholeheartedly encourage all students to seize the opportunities that our institution offers and participate in co-curricular & extracurricular activities that promote holistic growth of the body and mind.
