The Department of English at Govt. College Nerwa was established in 2002, the same year the college came into existence. Since then, the department has been dedicated to enhancing students’ proficiency in English language and literature.

Infrastructure

The department is equipped with one large classroom and a spacious hall, providing an effective learning environment for undergraduate students.

Courses Offered

The department offers a wide range of courses prescribed by Himachal Pradesh University for the B.A. programme. Currently, more than 600 students are enrolled in the department.

The Curriculum Includes :

• Discipline-Specific Courses (DSC): Designed to build a strong foundation in English literature and prepare students for opportunities in academia and the corporate sector.
• Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC): Focused on improving writing and communication skills.
• Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC): Intended to deepen students’ understanding of the creative and technical aspects of literature.
• Generic Elective Courses (GEC): Introducing themes such as women’s empowerment, Indian society, and literature from Himachal Pradesh.
