Women Empowerment and Grievance Cell

The Women Empowerment and Grievance Cell of the college plays a crucial role in advocating gender equality and educating the college community on women's rights and related issues. It not only provides counseling and skill development opportunities for women but also works actively to prevent sexual harassment and promote their overall well-being.

The cell is dedicated to safeguarding the interests of female students, faculty, and staff, and to addressing any forms of discrimination, harassment, or injustice they may face within the campus environment. Stemming from national legal frameworks and a commitment to gender equality, the WGRC serves as a crucial pillar for fostering a safe, equitable, and respectful academic and professional space for women. The primary objective of the WGRC is to provide a confidential, accessible, and supportive platform for women to voice their concerns and grievances without fear of reprisal.

Note: Teasing girl students is an offence and is punishable under the law.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT & GRIEVANCES CELL
Incharge Prof. Seema Justa

The Women Empowerment and Grievance Cell is dedicated to fostering a campus environment where gender equality, respect, and mutual understanding thrive. In essence, it aims to "sensitize" the college community – students, faculty, and staff – to gender-related issues, challenge pervasive stereotypes, and address discrimination or harassment rooted in gender.

By addressing inequality in terms of opportunity and access the society can be sanitized for behavioural changes and becoming more responsible. Education in real sense instills the quality of understanding and differentiating between right and wrong; injustice and other evils prevailing in a society.

When we talk about GDC Nerwa we feel proud that women are more empowered as is reflected by the strength of the college which is increasing year after year with girls overpowering boys not only in number but also in academics. Govt. Degree College, Nerwa is committed to gender sensitization which is reflected in the programmes it has undertaken in the past five years. The programme runs through guest lectures, workshops, debates and seminars etc. Girls enthusiastically participate and register for NSS, NCC and Rangers unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides. They can raise their issues in Women Empowerment and Sexual Harassment and Grievance Redressal Cells.
